Loving, gentle, & trauma-informed care for your birth & postpartum journey
JIN MOON
birth & postpartum doula, community herbalist, sibling doula, writer, & soup maker
We all deserve culturally competent, trauma-informed, and gentle care in our birth and postpartum journeys — care that sees where we’ve been, where we are now, and where we would like to be.
I truly believe that community birth support is one way that we witness the possibilities of another world. A world based in the needs of our community members. One that cherishes and empowers the lives of our BIPOC, 2SLGBTQIA+, fat, disabled, and neurodiverse loved ones for generations, and offers life-giving futures for those who are survivors of state and personal violence. It is a joy to witness families emerge — from those breaking generational patterns to single parents, polycules, & the queers & their extended gays, etc. I am honored to be brought in as a trusted companion for these tender transitions. As a queer and genderfluid Korean person who is a survivor of multiple forms of violence, my framework of care is one based in the embodied knowledge that healing happens through relationships, and our innate right to make decisions for ourselves, our bodies, and our families.
My work as a birth & postpartum doula is to remain present with you through all of the subtle and major shifts that take place in your perinatal journey. To bear witness to your story, tend to your process alongside you, and support you in building a care plan specific to the needs of you and your family. Being with your joy, grief, and metamorphosis — is a humbling and beautiful gift. There is so much that we cannot predict in the birth and postpartum world, but what I can offer is a steady presence and a hand to hold as we move through whatever may arise, together.
Consent is foundational to my practice. Your birth and postpartum world deserves to be protected and honored. I am passionate about the emotional/physical/spiritual processes that emerge during the transitional space of birth/postpartum, and am always eager to share what evidence-based information I know, and to be curious around what I do not know, so that we can learn together. I incorporate herbal support, moxibustion, belly binding, and ear acupuncture (5NP) as integral parts of my practice (shout out to Canoe Journey Herbalists for gifting me the practice of ear acupuncture!). I am a life-long learner, and approach my care work with curiosity, joy, and gentle commitment to your ongoing wellbeing, guided deeply by the stars of my community, mentors, ancestors, and the families that I work with.
